I like that this is so prescriptive. You may not use the shorthand here, but I’ve found the overall advice sound. This is a terrible admission, but I do this for novels. I haven’t read it till I’ve read it twice.
Schools are the core of our society. People in the U.S. seem to think that public school is a joke—however, I am a huge fan of teachers. (Some ridiculous number—like 70%—of the teachers I’ve known are amazing.) I try to follow discussions about education very closely.
I’m a devoted fan of Mr. Egan’s work. His book The Educated Mind is tremendous, a classic. I would like to see his viewpoints gain more traction.
